Generator connections

Generators must be connected so they cannot backfeed the mains; a qualified electrician plans the method.

Do this first

• Keep clear of sparking fittings, burning smells or flood water near electrics.
• Do not keep resetting a breaker or RCD that trips immediately.
• Note which rooms lost power and photograph the consumer unit if it is safe.
